Final of Henallux Smart City Challenge 2016

Tuesday 13 December 2016

For several years now, Namur has been positioning itself as a city at the forefront of innovation in matters of tourism, culture and business, as well as coming out in favour of using new technology to help develop these various sectors. It is therefore with real enthusiasm that the city is getting behind the Smart City Challenge project created by Henallux in conjunction with NRB. Its goal is to boost entrepreneurial initiative among students by encouraging them to ‘think outside the box’, innovate and accelerate the digital transformation of the city in which they study.

Concretely, 170 Namur students in the third year of their bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and in Marketing at the Henallux higher education college have had nearly four months to develop and “market” functional prototypes of digital and innovative solutions. The goal of the mobile apps they develop is to improve the quality of life in Namur and to be in line with the city in matters of transport, mobility, water, energy, healthcare, housing and social cohesion.

The 28 selected projects will be presented to the jury on Friday, 16 December and Saturday, 17 December at Coworking Namur. This event will be the culmination of four months of involvement and commitment by the students to their projects.

We cannot wait to see the presentations of their apps and reward the finalists with the prizes kindly provided by NRB.
